Solidarity with the WGA: Better Than Speechless

I'm enjoying Law & Order's take on the writers' strike much more than those weird morose Speechless campaign pieces.

It’s funny you posted that.

(It ends well – promise! I promise it ends well…)

A Fox employee drove his black Escalade into a picketing Rene Balcer today. (Balcer’s the showrunner for Law & Order and co-creator of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.) The SUV guy knocked Balcer back several feet, then leapt from his car, took a swing at Rene, and shoved him out into the Avenue of the Stars. (No traffic at that moment - whew!) Picketers tried to restrain the driver, but he shook ‘em off and ran back to his car and was quickly waved through the gate by a Fox security guard.

A dear friend of mine has been picketing the Paramount gate 5:30am – noon for the last three months. For about the first six weeks or so he had so much fun – met tons of new people, lots of beer and donuts. Now it just sucks.

Word is Tom Hanks got into the mix today and said he's gonna get a cadre of mega A list actors together to pressure the Producers back to the negotiating table… we'll see…

That aside – I’m watching the last new ep of Grey’s Anatomy right now and Patty Griffin just came in singing “Up to the Mountain” and I squeeeaaled! Love love love me some Patty:)

I heard about Rene Balcer and the weird Fox episode. I also have friends who are picketing - it sounds like a drag.

Grey's Anatomy is where you and most of America and I divide. I can't stand those whiners. I don't know why - I put up with a lot on other shows - but for some reason Ellen Pompeo and her navel gazing horrendous little voice overs make me want to puke.

Without their words, we can not be hypnotized by voyeristic plots, not so truncated scenes, attractive but never completely understood recurrent characters...god where is a good book when I need one.
